Truth
How many versions of the truth do you need to be convinced
That the world is round and what science found is true
Don’t let them tell you otherwise
Even if it sounds so logical
There is just one truth and maybe we don’t know what it is
How many worlds we have to destroy if there’s only one that turns around
Only one we call our home and gives us shelter
Fools might tell you otherwise
Denying that there is a problem
But there’s only one truth, you can’t wave it away
Who knows the truth these days
In so many ways we’re ill-informed
What is true and what is false, and the louder the lie calls
We’ll have to hold on to what we believe is right
How many versions of my love do you need to be reassured
And believe that my love for you is true
People might tell you otherwise
Say that you’re just one of the many
But there’s just one truth and I hope you know what it is
Who knows the truth these days
In so many ways we’re ill-informed
What is true and what is false, and the louder the lie calls
We’ll have to hold on to what we believe is right

But it never was like that
Looking back on what we use to have together, it was a magical time
We felt as if there was nothing that could harm us, no mountain was too high to climb
Then clouds sailed in and blocked the sun and we were driven apart
In front of us was a separate future and it broke both our hearts
We didn’t give up, we found a solution, it worked at least for a while
But then again the cracks started showing, pretending wasn’t part of our style
The clouds returned, even darker than before, we couldn’t see a spark of light
So we said farewell and packed our things, glad it didn’t end up in a fight
Such a sad story and so often told, can’t choose between the truth or a lie
Why is love so often told in two versions that won’t meet until we stop asking why
But it never was like that, we kept cheating, it was our deal to tell it that way
Then it never was like that, lies and truth were meeting, the outside world thought we’re OK
What’s going on behind the front door, you never can tell
And let’s say we just don’t want to know
It never was like that, we have to admit, but hey, we put up a hell of a show
